IIDA Tennessee Design Awards 2022

CALL FOR ENTRIES:

PURPOSE:  The IIDA Tennessee Design Awards honor design excellence within the IIDA Tennessee community and celebrate innovative solutions for interior spaces. The 2022 event promises to be a great time, celebrating excellence in interior design while showcasing the impact of our design community on each other and our nation.

ENTRY CRITERIA:   Any Professional, Student, or Associate member of the IIDA Tennessee Chapter in good standing is invited to participate. Pending Members are welcome to submit but must include a copy of their IIDA membership application. There is also an entry option for TN design community members who are not presently in IIDA. Previously awarded projects may not be submitted.

Entries may only be submitted in one category per year. Projects can be from any location, if the design is completed by a member of the Tennessee design community. Projects eligible will have completed in the time frame between mid-2019 and the present. 

JUDGING CRITERIA: 

All entries will be judged on the following criteria, listed below - with each criterion being given equal weight. Judging will be performed by IIDA professionals outside of the Tennessee Chapter:

1. Design concept displays originality and innovation
2. Concept supports design elements and function is clearly displayed throughout the layout
3. Strong connection in material selection (overall form, scale, color, and texture, establishing design unity)
4. Visual statements support written statements.

SCORING:

Each criterion is scored 1-7, which gives each project a maximum score of 28 points. All judging scorecards are totaled and averaged for a final score for each project. The highest score will win. In the event of a tie, the judges will reevaluate to determine the outcome.

Best Overall: Project with the overall highest score from all categories will win Best Overall.

All entries and payments are due Friday, September 2nd, 2022 by 5:00pm

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

All entries must be submitted electronically through this online portal. Each company representative will need to create an account. After the account is created, you will be able to enter your project/projects.

QUESTIONS: 

Questions regarding project submittal guidelines and judging shall be submitted in writing to specialevents@iida-tn.org.

Questions regarding the submittal guidelines or judging will not be answered verbally. If there are any technical questions regarding the website, there is a help button that sends an email to the web designer and IIDA TN. 

PAYMENT:

All payments are due Friday, September 2nd, 2022 by 5:00 P.M. 

All entry fees are non-refundable.

Entry Fees are as follows:

• $500 per non-IIDA member submission
• $300 per submission
• $250 multiple submissions
• $0 Student Entries

AWARDS:

All award recipients will be announced the night of the IIDA Tennessee Design Awards on Thursday, September 22^nd, 2022. The winning projects will be published on the IIDA Tennessee Chapter website, as well as this competition website, and may be published through additional sources as opportunities arise, including social media and print. Applicants do not have to be present to win.

REQUIREMENTS:

All entries uploaded to this competition must include the following:

1. ENTRY FORM

   All teams must create an account before uploading project information.

2. PROJECT INFORMATION

   Each team will be able to upload Digital Images and Floor Plans, and provide a Summary, Synopsis and other project and team information as required.

   • DIGITAL IMAGES

     Submit images in JPG format only with a 300 DPI minimum and maximum file size of 1 MB per image.

     Images should be clean: free of borders, design firm name or logos, other identifying marks, or additional images. It is the responsibility of the designer to obtain all clearances for use of photographs in conjunction with publicity and recognition of the project.

   • FLOOR PLANS

     Black and white PDF of the floor plans formatted on 8.5” x 11” or 11” x 17” with one plan per sheet.

     Plans should indicate photo views, which correspond to the Image Numbers/Names.

     Firm name, logo, or any identifying information is NOT to appear on the plans.

   • SUMMARY (PROJECT DESCRIPTION)

     Three sentence project overview that highlights the project’s main accomplishments and strengths.

   • SYNOPSIS

     A synopsis (300 word maximum) to include the project design goals, concept, execution, cost per square foot, design constraints, and detailed information as necessary to best explain the project submitted. This synopsis will be used to create a voice over narration for winning projects. The website will prompt you to select one photo that will represent the project submission although judges will be able to see all that is uploaded. All team information will be hidden from judges.

3. SUBMITTAL COMPLETION 

   Teams will be able to add/delete information on project submittals until the final closing date of September 2nd, 2022. All submittals must be completed by September 2nd, 2022.
