IIDA Tennessee Design Awards 2024

CALL FOR ENTRIES:

PURPOSE:  The IIDA Tennessee Design Awards honor design excellence within the IIDA Tennessee community and celebrate innovative solutions for interior spaces. The 2024 event promises to be a great time, celebrating excellence in interior design while showcasing the impact of our design community on each other and our nation.

ENTRY CRITERIA:   Any member of the Tennessee design community is invited to enter. Professional or Associate Members of the IIDA Tennessee Chapter in good standing may provide their ID number for a submission discount. A company’s nationwide IIDA membership is not valid for a submission discount. Pending Members are welcome to submit, but must include a copy of their IIDA membership application.

Entries may only be submitted in one category per year. Projects can be from any location, if the design is completed by a member of the Tennessee design community from the submitting firm. Projects eligible must have completed in the time frame between September 2022 and the present. Previously awarded projects may not be submitted.

JUDGING CRITERIA:

All entries will be judged on the following criteria- with each criterion being given equal weight.

1.Design Concept and Execution: Clear, concise, and compelling design concept. The design concept supports the clients objectives, project requirements, and is evident throughout the final floor plans and photography.
2.Use of Space: Functional use of space with original integration of codes, empathetic wayfinding, and forward thinking drivers. The overall form, scale, color, and texture establish design unity.
3.Problem Solving: Unique project requirements, program, or challenges described with an analytical design solution with a holistic understanding of the clients objectives.
4.Creativity and Originality: Character defining elements are well established with consistent reinforcement of theme. The aesthetic was critically evaluated, innovative, and elevates the field of interior design.

Each entry will be judged on the success with which it has met its individual requirements. Entries will be weighed individually, and not in competition with others. Judges decisions will be based solely on the materials submitted.

Judging will be performed by IIDA professionals outside of the Tennessee Chapter. Photographs and bios will be shared the night of the event and/or via social media in advance of the event. Judges scores and comments regarding the projects will not be shared.

If two (2) or fewer submissions are received, the category will be eliminated. Submissions will be recategorized in another category if applicable, or returned/refunded.

SCORING:

Each criterion is scored 1-7, which gives each project a maximum score of 28 points. All judging scorecards are totaled and averaged for a final score for each project. The highest score will win. In the event of a tie, the judges will reevaluate to determine the outcome.

Best Overall: Project with the overall highest score from all categories will win Best Overall.

AWARDS:

All award recipients will be announced the night of the IIDA Tennessee Design Awards. The winning projects will be published on the IIDA Tennessee Chapter website, as well as this competition website, and may be published through additional sources as opportunities arise, including social media and print.
